JAY BULCKAERT

Yellowknife-based filmmaker, Jay Bulckaert, has spent the large majority of his filmmaking career pointing a camera at the North’s strange beauty and colourful personalities. He is the director behind the Snowking documentary “Triumph of the Chill”, the short film “Ciest to Lie” and most recently the hit TV show, “Knife Knews” which were all done through his company COLLECTIVE9 whose office is ironically situated on Range street.

Jay has been the director, cinematographer and editor on several large scale documentary projects, most recently the upcoming “King of the Road” film that had him follow Ice Road Trucker star, Alex Debogorski across 24 states in America in the worlds largest 18 wheeler as he did a book tour. King of the Road is currently in post-production.

Adding to the list of Northern themed productions, Jay recently wrapped production on season 1 of CBC’s upcoming dramatic series “Arctic Air” and has also started shooting season 4 of History Channel’s highly popular “Ice Pilots NWT”. In other words, Jay is fully immersed in the nuances of Northern storytelling.

COLLECTIVE9 was established in 2007 and is the company through which Jay does all his films.

PABLO SARAVANJA

Pablo is a born and raised Yellowknifer who operates aRTLeSS meDia, a multimedia business which works with the North’s top creative talent.  It does this to help a variety of independent and corporate clients tell visually compelling stories.

Pablo is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker offering a fresh documentary/photojournalistic approach to his work.

Personally invested in developing a healthy film and television scene and thriving art-filled North, Pablo is most passionate about his current multi-year project: Artless:365, which aims to create the definitive portrait catalog of contemporary Canadian Northern artists.

An active member of the Northern media-arts community, Pablo is the current president of Western Arctic Moving Pictures, a mentor with the Frozen Eyes Photographic Society and co-founder of  both Cinema Politica YK and the NWT Professional Media Association.

PAT KANE

Pat is one of the North’s most sought-after photographers who specializes in photographing people, culture and lifestyle in Canada’s Arctic. He’s the staff photographer and photo editor for Up Here magazine which was named Canada’s Magazine of the Year at the 2010 National Magazine Awards.

Pat is a graduate of the School of Media Studies at Humber College where he studied print media and photojournalism. He also holds a degree in English Literature and Philosophy from The University of Western Ontario.

His photos have been featured in publications across Canada including Maclean’s, Reader’s Digest, The Globe and Mail, Canadian Business, Albertaviews, Alberta Oil and many others. He is currently the president of Frozen Eyes Photographic Society, a non-profit that provides photo workshops for youth throughout the Northwest Territories.
